Diamond Multimedia and A+Net Announce Nationwide Support of Breakthrough Shotgun
Modem-bonding Technology; Dual-Line Analog Modem Service Now Available In More Than 2,000
Cities

BusinessWire, Monday, November 30, 1998 at 09:11

VANCOUVER, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 1998--Diamond
Multimedia Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:DIMD), a leader in interactive
multimedia acceleration and PC entertainment, today announced that
A+Net, a national Internet service provider, will begin offering
Diamond's Shotgun(tm) channel-bonding technology to its customers on
December 1st.
Shotgun technology bonds the data streams of two modems together
to work intelligently over two ordinary phone lines. This technology,
featured in the award-winning, dual-line Diamond SupraSonic II modem,
enables consumers and small businesses to enjoy fast Internet
connections at speeds of up to 112 Kbps (kilobits per second).
Effective December 1st, new A+Net customers will be able to
subscribe to Shotgun service for $29.95 per month with unlimited use
and no setup fee. Existing A+Net customers will be able to upgrade to
Shotgun service for an additional $10 per month with no setup fee.
"Our customers come to us because of our quality services and
competitive prices," said Art Ekroos, vice president of sales &
marketing at A+Net. "Adding Shotgun technology to our list of exciting
services is our latest accomplishment in fulfilling this goal. Our
customers can now enjoy the increased bandwidth of Shotgun technology.
And for subscribers of other networks who would like to try this as
well as other advanced services, we are offering special pricing, and
no setup fees if they switch to A+Net."
A+Net brings Shotgun technology support to an additional 168
cities across the nation, increasing the Shotgun-available POPs
(Points of Presence) by more than 180. To date, Shotgun technology is
available in more than 2,000 cities nationwide. For additional
information about Shotgun technology and to find out if it is
available in your city, visit the Diamond Multimedia web site at
www.diamondmm.com/shotgun.
"With more than 25 million homes having two phone lines, Shotgun
technology offers an easy way to enjoy faster speed on the Internet,"
said Jim Cady, vice president and general manager of Diamond
Multimedia's Communications Division. "A+Net's nationwide support now
allows more people than ever to take advantage of SupraSonic II's
Shotgun technology."
Diamond's Shotgun technology is also included in Diamond
Multimedia's entire line of PC-based SupraExpress 56K V.90 modems. The
inclusion of this technology allows SupraExpress users to bond their
Diamond modem with a host of other manufacturer's modems for
additional bandwidth over two analog phone lines.

Looking good so far. I cashed out half at 7 1/2 to lock in some quick profits but I hope this one keeps climbing. One observation is that SOny has lots of display space for its minidisc in the Christmas mailers for Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. I bet they are pissed off at Diamond by now. Lets see, buy Sony's minidisc for 299 or pay 199 for a lighter skipfree RIO. Tough choice...
