Looks like the INTERNUT bubble popped today. Now maybe they will look for real companies.

AOL has developed a deep understanding of what it takes to keep the 'eyeballs' - how to keep people who use AOL coming back to the central AOL distribution areas. They have done a number of software pieces, both in browser and chat areas, and a number of more subtle pieces which almost invisibly connect their users to AOL. Their current moves will enhance their ability to do that.

AOL is not anything like MSFT in technology - they use small key investments to cement their business model. Like Dell, they are misunderstood - people see the 'face' of AOL and don't understand the depth of thinking that goes on around how to maintain and grow their business.
