In my previous post I laid out a case about companies who follow GWRX business model, i.e. a licensed Run Time piece of software.

The other type of company that may be able to make money out of the growing smart-phone market is Tools vendors. The one that comes to mind is Emultek (EMU). They have a tool caled RapidPlus which lets a user build a state-machine from a simple draw program on a PC. Once the state machine is built, the software will generate the code.

This is a realy innovative idea, and helps GUI based appplications beat their time-to-market goals. If I was a cell phone company and had to come out with new features and bells and whistles every few months for my SmartPhones, then I'd certainly want my engineers to be using a clean methodology, and I'd try to shorten development times as much as possible. RapidPlus seems to address this market.

Check out their home page.
