Thomas...the article on DDR DRAM targeted 17-20 % of the market by yr2000.

What's the expectation beyond yr 2000...??
Do you or others see this as an alternative to RAMBUS on the low end PC's or more??

IMO RMBS will take the high end server and faster workstation market from Year 2001---2003.

Any thoughts from members of the board???

you are right. your articles are new, but the news really isn't. we all understand that there will be alternative dram's temporarily and appropriately so. the role of ddrdram has been discussed. i just don't think there will be a lot of room for them as we move to faster and faster pc's. mine is relevant also. after all it is only a few days old and it clearly makes the point that rdram is going to be available very shortly. dell is on a 2-3 week production cycle, if they are getting their rdram now, it is almost to the market.

once rdram hits the streets, it is going to be very difficult for everyone else. i have never seen the computer industry back-up to a slower speed.
i do agree with your point that there will be alternatives short term.
but shoot, surely you see the demand for the faster rdram building momentum. don't you? the demand for rdram is estimated at 175,000,000 units in 1999 and noone knows about it yet, nor can they get it yet.
rdram is going to be hotter than a hasbro doll.
