Michelle, I've had the same problem w/stops (not the broker's fault). The ones that killed me were the after-hours trades: I see the close; put in my stop for the following day; after-hours trades go thru my stop & I wind up eating it. It's a very fine distinction whether to use a stop or stop/limit, depending on what you really want to do (especially using the on-line brokers). Timely EXECUTION though I'm just beginning to wonder about - it seems to be slowing down but according to the broker it's just the reporting that's slowing down.

Does anyone know a good source of info on brokers (particularly on-line/discount), referrals, etc?

Who's your broker? ETrade worked fine when I bought in @ 24 1/16 at around 10:45 this morning.....but they havn't had shares to lend all day....but I was able to borrow shares with Fidelity though it did take awhile before I got a order confirm....a little over 1/2 an hour....one heck of a long time in this market.
