REH,

Another in a long list of mistakes that SGI has made since the early 90's (MIPS, losing the 3D standard for non-SGI platforms, etc.). Not exactly a market leading company anymore. They always have to go back and fix these things later.

And they have the ugliest campus in the world. Stop by and marvel at it on Shoreline Ave. in Mountain View next time you visit Rambus.

reh and thomas,
i understand ibm has a new miniature chipset utilizing rambus rdram coming out in 99 for just those purposes. including not only laptops but the new miniaturized handhelds as well. they plan a complete new line of product introductions.

hope you got back in today reh, (87 is about as good as it is ever going to get. time is short, dell has the product) so you can help us out here with thomas. i don't think he will ever go long.

REH,

I've always enjoyed your posts (positive, negative, OT, whatever), but was disappointed to see your efforts to hasten the decline of the Rambus. I believe that previously, if someone else had posted the SGI news, you would have been the one to point out that SGI is not a significant market leader at this time (the responses made to your post on both the SI and Yahoo sites). Not that it's not an important piece of news, but you would have set it in the proper perspective.

I've been following your posts on the Yahoo thread as well and was wondering if you'd copy your last couple (the bullish ones) over to this thread to reinforce your overall position. It'd make me feel better. <gg>

Thanks,

David B
