Bob, it is my belief that when the Lord returns for His people, it will all be over. We will be with Him in the air forever, heaven and earth will be burned up, the judgment will come , we shall inherit the new heaven and new earth. One comment about the new earth. Some think it will be a rejuvenated earth and heaven, but I believe otherwise due to the following Scriptures. "Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them." (Rev 20:11 NKJV) NOTICE: * 'and there was found no place for them' -- to me, this means totally gone. "looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?" (2 Pet 3:12 NKJV) "Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells." (2 Pet 3:13 NKJV) Here I see the old removed and the new established. ""Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away." (Mat 24:35 NKJV) ""But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only." (Mat 24:36 NKJV) The new established. All Things Made New "Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea." (Rev 21:1 NKJV) Here again we see 'passed away'. I think God is saying a totally new heaven and earth for a totally new man. "Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."" (Rev 21:5 NKJV) My Lord Jesus has made a new creation with me. In the flesh I am still imperfect, but I am covered by the blood and when He comes for me I will be totally new with a spiritual body, similar to the way Adam was created. Not only that but, praise God for His mercy, I will be like Jesus. "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him." (1 John 3:1 NKJV) "Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is." (1 John 3:2 NKJV) Note: 'we shall be like Him' - very important concept, totally and completely like Jesus. Who in his right mind could refuse such an offer from the God of the universe.
