MileHigh...new PC's at 600mhz and higher with and up to 200mhz motherboards will get you speed. Additional memory will be needed by newer operating systems aswell.

More robust multi-media applications as an example will boost the need for more memory.

A typical PC by 2001 may come standard with 256meg vrs todays 32 meg.

Not really

The Pentium II is already overkill for most users. I know some senior programers at MSFT that told me, last year Intel asked MSFT to slow down Windows to help justify the Pentium II processor.
