WSJ article #2 did not detail conversion risks, only "ominous" warning. The theme of this article is an array of risks, I misread the headline as specifically about the conversion process.

"Conversion to the Euro
But it isn't just the dates on either side of the year end that raise concerns. Dec. 31 itself is looking ominous. It is the day, for one thing, that the Euopean Commission fixes the conversion rates for 11 European currencies unifying into common currency, the euro. No one speaks with certainty on what this unprecedented leap into monetary union will mean for global currency and debt markets."
