Thank you for posting that release. P D is a gem of a company and I was really surprised at the weakness today in the share price.

Cautious optimism is required in this market. It seems that no matter what good news is released, when the sector is hit hard, it affects them all.

MOSCOW, December 1 (Itar-Tass) - The overall gold production in Russia amounted to 993 tonnes (including 889 tonnes extracted) in 1991-1997 to a total cost of 11.9 billion dollars, Chairman of the Union of Gold Prospectors Viktor Tarakanovsky said at a meeting of the Coordinating Council of Domestic Producers on Tuesday.

The 1998 extraction of gold will be 100 tonnes as compared to 126.3 tonnes last year despite an unprecedented rise of the gold mining capacities by 25 tonnes. For instance, the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) cut the gold extraction from 36 to 12 tonnes.

Tarakanovsky demanded smaller taxes on gold prospectors and said the industry paid up to 45 percent of the cost of the extracted gold in taxes.
