Don't get me wrong. I'm not complain'n.(very lonnngg, and still hold'n) but. Someone ought to try make'n some money. Maybe Brason should try acquiring : Procom Enhances Network Tape Storage With Tape Array 100 IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 1, 1998--Procom Technology Inc. (Nasdaq:PRCM - news) Tuesday unveiled the Tape Array 100, its latest network tape storage innovation designed to meet the capacity and high-availability demands of enterprise storage applications. Procom's new Tape Array 100 provides up to 1 terabyte of high-availability tape storage capacity with an architecture designed for maximum scalability and reliability. ''Enterprise tape storage isn't just about high capacity; it also requires high data availability and throughput,'' said Mike Khoyilar, Tape Product Manager at Procom. ''The Tape Array 100 addresses each of these requirements in a scalable, affordable tape storage platform.'' To meet the high up-time demands of enterprise computing, the Tape Array 100 is based on a fault-tolerant architecture with dual redundant, hot swappable fans and power supplies, eliminating these components as failure points that could impact data availability. If one of these components fails, audible and visual alarms are triggered to notify the administrator. Procom designed the Tape Array 100 to provide customers with flexibility to create customized storage solutions by selecting the optimal capacity, drive technology, and SCSI connectivity to meet their individual tape storage requirements. The scalable design allows users to start with a minimum configuration and then increase the installation with up to five drive modules, supporting DLT7000/a drives for maximum performance, AIT/a drives for fast file access applications, and a high-capacity configuration with AIT autoloaders providing up to 1 terabyte of high-availability storage. When configured with five DLT7000 drives the Tape Array 100 delivers a capacity of up to 350 gigabytes, or 250 gigabytes with five AIT drives. All drives are mounted on hot-swap shuttles making field replacement a quick and easy process. All Tape Array 100 configurations are available in either table-top or zero-footprint rack-mount options. Customers can configure the Tape Array 100 for the optimal SCSI connectivity based on their storage requirements to take advantage of flexibility and performance available with five separate tape drives in the enclosure. A high-throughput split-bus configuration puts two drives on the first SCSI connection and three drives on a second SCSI channel. With this configuration the Tape Array 100 can service up to five individual jobs running simultaneously. For example, the first three drives could be running backup operations, while the fourth and fifth drives are responding to separate file restoration requests. Alternatively, users can operate with all five drives on a single SCSI bus and add optional RAID software from Computer Associates for maximum data reliability. Features Up to one terabyte of backup storage Dual SCSI-2 interface Dual redundant and hot swap power supplies and fans Rack mount and table top modules Supports AIT, DLT 7000 drives and AIT autoloaders Fast/Wide SCSI-2 host interface Benefits Perfect solutions for enterprise backup storage needs Convenience of all drives on one SCSI channel or split-bus configuration High reliability in case of power supply or fan failure Convenience of rack mount or table top Choice of drive technologies with capacities suitable for the enterprise -- Easily integrates into most network environments Price The Tape Array 100 is currently available with pricing starting at $2,845 for an unpopulated version. A fully-configured Tape Array 100 with five DLT7000 drives is priced at $48,870, and the configuration with five AIT autoloaders sells for $35,570. All prices are MSRP. Warranty The Tape Array 100 is backed by the company's three-year warranty, with first year overnight replacement policy.
