I have yet to see a Xeon. I've heard a lot about NT though. We have that as the operating system that is running on some of the computers back in the computer room. The ones with the blue screens with hex dumps and nonsense.

>>Intel has Xeon which is currently a problem for SUNW (although not at the high end). MSFT has Windows NT which is a competing OS albeit non Unix. You have heard about these products haven't you?

Yes Dale, I am quite aware of them. I have used NT quite a bit for the past year (every day), and I have rebooted it at least once almost every day. Now, since you are the only intelligent poster on this thread (according to you anyway), please answer my question. How will these products kill Sun in 3 years like you predicted? NT has been here for years, Xeon is nothing more than a slightly glorified P2. I don't see them as a threat to Sun's server growth. I am sure this time you will surprise all of us with your ability to give a coherent answer defending your statement. Or maybe you will just say I've been hitting the crack pipe again. I'll give that option 2 to 1.

Dave

Dale. A bottle of Coors per point, what do you say?

Price of SUNW vs MSFT - November 30, 1998 compared to May 30, 1999, percentage gain or loss against each other.

Not intended as a wager.
