INDI---News! Individual Investor Group Acquires InsiderTrader.com; Acquisition Expands Company's Entry Into E-Commerce NEW YORK, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Individual Investor Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: INDI - news) announced today that it has acquired the assets of InsiderTrader.com, an online distributor of insider data and independent financial research. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. InsiderTrader compliments INDI's existing product line -- Individual Investor Online (http://www.iionline.com), Individual Investor Magazine, Ticker Magazine and Individual Investor's Special Situations Report -- and marks INDI's first foray into paid subscription-based online information services. The company expects to introduce other paid subscription-based online information services over the next 12 months. ''The financial world is looking to the Internet as the source for constant and valuable in-depth online financial information and analysis,'' said Jonathan Steinberg, INDI's chairman and chief executive officer. ''With this acquisition we begin the process of building premium subscription-based tools that allow individual investors to make stronger and more knowledgeable investment decisions.'' Steinberg continued, ''This acquisition expands our E-commerce potential, adding another product to the print subscriptions, books, third-party research and software currently sold through our company store.'' Since its launch in 1996, InsiderTrader has acquired more than 2,400 paid subscribers without the benefit of marketing or advertising programs. By utilizing INDI's marketing resources and technical, back-office strength, InsiderTrader hopes to become the Internet's most comprehensive and affordable site for detailed insider information geared toward sophisticated investors. InsiderTrader will also begin to carry banner ads and form sponsorships through the representation of DoubleClick. ''Financial newsletters have been slow to adopt the Internet as a distribution channel,'' said Jonathan Moreland, director of research for InsiderTrader. ''Traditional financial newsletters can run investors a few hundred dollars per year even though the information may be outdated. InsiderTrader is just a fraction of what most newsletters cost and it provides fresh, updated information and comprehensive Form 4 and Form 144 data detailing insider stock activity.'' By using both Individual Investor Online and InsiderTrader, an investor can receive a stock recommendation from Individual Investor Online's team of analysts and then use corresponding research available at InsiderTrader to make informed investment decisions. InsiderTrader has forged relationships with institutional distributors of insider data, such as Vickers Stock Research and the Washington Service. It has additional partnerships with Zacks, Market Guide and Big Charts. InsiderTrader has also developed and hosts co-branded insider data for Edgar-Online, Hoovers and Infonautics' Company Sleuth. The site can also be accessed through links from the insider data pages on Intuit's family of sites, including Excite.com. InsiderTrader was the first site to offer all visitors free, comprehensive insider data including: 13 months of open-market and option-related Form 4 and Form 144 data; monthly summaries of all the open-market Form 4 and Form 144 data filed with the SEC dating to June 1996; a ticker-search function; a transaction value sort tool for finding new investments; and educational material on how best to use insider data for investing. In addition, InsiderTrader offers investors two levels of paid access to the site: Subscription Service and Premium Service. Subscribers to InsiderTrader can access value-added insider data, independent research and analysis, investment recommendations and financial commentary for $49.95 a year. For ''institutional-strength'' data, InsiderTrader offers a Premium Service for an additional $17.95 a month. Numerous brokerage firms, investment houses and money managers currently subscribe to InsiderTrader. Individual Investor Group, Inc.
