P&F = point and figure charting - there is a thread here though I dont follow it much

I like P&F because it tends t filter out the noise - the main complaint against p&f is that it takes too long to give a signal, and to some extent that is true

so I wrote my own program that uses a consistent (and generally smaller) box size, which gives consistent (and faster) signals, and use it for confirmation and pattern recognition (since it does filter out small moves it tends to make very obvious patterns)
