Platinum Entertainment Reports Astronomical
Increase In November Retail Web Site Visitors

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 1, 1998--Platinum Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: PTET - news)
today announced an astronomical increase in the number of visitors to its new retail Web site. Company officials said more than
1.5 million people visited platinumcd.com in November, compared to 13,500 people in October, the site's first
month of operation.

''The most significant aspect of this traffic increase is that it was achieved without spending anything on Web advertising,'' said
Steve Devick, Platinum president and CEO. ''We believe these results support our strategy of providing interesting music
content and continuing to create as many online strategic partnerships as possible.''

Interest in PlatinumCD.com was in part driven by the company's plan to offer MP3 downloads from major artists, Devick said.
Since the promotion started, songs by Platinum artists have been among the most downloaded tracks on the Web, he added.

''The value of this highly focused and interactive exposure is that it creates a strong impression of our artists and their music,''
Devick said. ''We've designed our Web strategy to drive greater numbers of consumers to both online and traditional retailers,
and to establish a leadership role in the inevitable move toward digital distribution.''

PlatinumCD.com is the only retail Web site that allows consumers to purchase music four different ways, including online
retailing through Platinum's own distribution, as well as an alliance with Amazon.com. The company's equity investment in The
Music Connection Corporation gives customers access to digital downloads from Liquid Audio and custom ''burn and mail''
CD compilations. Key partnerships also have been forged with Liquid Audio and MP3.com, the Internet's no. 1 music
download site.

Platinum Entertainment produces, licenses, acquires, markets and distributes high quality recorded music for a variety of music
formats. Platinum's wholly owned labels include River North Records, House of Blues Music Co., CGI Records and
Intersound. Platinum's products include new releases from established artists, as well as new configurations of previously
recorded music that enable Platinum to exploit its catalog of more than 13,000 master recordings.
