SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- CBS MarketWatch (http://cbs.marketwatch.com) today announced that it has signed a deal to develop online content jointly with the Industry Standard (http://www.thestandard.com), the leading news magazine focusing on the Internet economy.

According to terms of the agreement, the Standard will provide daily and weekly content to create a top-level section on the MarketWatch site entitled the Internet Economy Report. Thom Calandra, Editor in Chief of CBS MarketWatch.com, will be editing the Internet Economy Report.

The Internet Economy Report will focus on the latest economic developments in the Internet industry, including IPO activity, company mergers, technological developments in net advertising, and personalities who are moving the industry. Darren Chervitz and Frank Barnako are among the MarketWatch writers who will be contributing to the report. The report will also feature the work of Industry Standard writers including Mark Gimein, Elizabeth Wasserman and James Ledbetter. The Internet Economy Report will be linked from the homepage of MarketWatch and from TheStandard.com.

In addition to the Internet Economy Report, MarketWatch and the Industry Standard will be co-operating on other editorial projects. Among these initiatives are a co-branded stock quote page on the Industry Standard site and the inclusion of a monthly column by Thom Calandra in the magazine.

Larry Kramer, President and CEO of CBS MarketWatch.com, said, "This partnership is a major step for expanding the audience for our high-quality content. The fact that a real-time, Internet-based operation can produce high quality editorial content is only reinforced when we are able to present it to a high-quality print audience as well. This is truly a synergistic relationship between two of the top information sources of the Internet age."

"MarketWatch and the Industry Standard have been true leaders in the new information age, and we are confident that the Internet Economy Report will quickly become a 'must-read' for anyone who wants to understand the online industry," said John Battelle, President and Publisher of the Industry Standard.
