Steve,

>>These 2 companies sure seem to be cozy don't they<<

Something's cooking it seems. I would think, though, that
AT&T still has a lot of strings attached to Lucent and will
be working with them through their "legacy relationship".
I could get a glimpse of this from how the CIEN/TLAB fiasco
seemed to be affected by the LU/AT&T relationship.
This is something I need to think about...how much of the
future involves these two working together.

>>In fact if I had to bet on a buyout for COMS I would not rule out AT&T,..<<

It makes a lot of sense. The thought occurred to me also. AT&T
could get a "close" relationship with customers through COMS
control of the edge and its focus on the Small Business Enterprise.
But, I think big mergers don't really work well. I've hear
Chambers say this over and over, and I have to agree. It just
seems so much simpler to have good partnerships, alliances, etc.

There is more than enough opportunity for all of them if they
decide to coordinate efforts. Sometimes, it seems like there
is too much emphasis on competition, and not enough on working
together to push forward the big technological themes of the
future.

btw...I expect some Motorola deal to get mentioned eventually.
Remember this was buzzing a few months ago.

Also, I'll try to get the com.com.com chart up soon,
now that preannouncement is over.
