How do you know what the witness meant?

Ok,"He should have meant", since he probably doesn't know the difference either.

I just want to say there is nothing like proper integration going on here in Windows. Proper integration means separate and separately useful and testable modules that work together via well defined APIs.

This is true whether you are talking about TCP/IP stacks, hardware components, or applications sold along with an OS, like Internet Explorer. Only imbecile developers mix up all their code for different functions into the same DLLs, unless they are ordered to do it. All testing people know you want stand-alone modules for testing purposes as well. Not to mention consumers often like to mix and match. (For those who find mixing and matching complex, you can still sell them all of your products at once. Since they will be integrated via well-defined APIs, their experience should be seamless.)

If hardware developers and logic designers did their work like MSFT programmers have done this OS, there would be leads and traces from every chip in your system to every other chip, and you wouldn't be able to boot your computer without making toast in the kitchen.

Cheers,
Chaz
