John: ++++++++OT+++++++++++DRUIDS

No did'nt see it, but that is a common story here. The Druids are a 20th century guess at what pre-historic religions in Wales and South West England might have been like. There is no historical authority for them - their dress, their beliefs, their rituals. It is all made up.

The "respectable" order of Druids is Welsh, operates in the Welsh language and involves many of the leading citizen of Wales. Other mom and pop versions spring up everywhere.

There is a huge coalition of "travellers" - who are not gypsies but mainly a young underclass - Middle Earthers, Greens, Environmentalists and others - who congregate in certain preferred locations - like Glastonbury in Somerset. They also like to visit the dozens of pre-historic stones - usually rings of large rocks - which are thought to have been related to ancient religions and which seem to have been calibrated with the stars and planets. When there they try to contact their pagan roots, especially at the times of solstice.
