For the record, K5 wasn't a bad design (it wasn't a great design either--don't get me wrong). The die size was too big, and AMD had bad manufacturing problems, but clock-for-clock it was faster than the P54C, about as fast as a P55C (excluding MMX) and almost as fast as a K6.

I don't know if it's true that a lot of the K5 designers are on K7. I suppose that would have to depend on turnover among designers and how NexGen has been integrated (or not). I'd love to hear from anyone with some substantive information about this.
