December 1, 1998: 2:13 p.m. ET CNNfn tech stocks report - July 10, 1998 CNNfn market movers - July 10, 1998 WavePhore Wave Systems NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Internet broadcast company WavePhore Inc.'s stock surged 81 percent Tuesday afternoon after the company said it had introduced a new online shopping mall. WavePhore (WAVO) was up 6-5/16 at 14-1/8 in heavy trading after the company announced plans to offer a new Internet-based and graphics-rich shopping mall delivered over its WaveTop television broadcast system. The company said it signed up nine merchants initially to sell merchandise and services on its new electronic-commerce system. The merchants include Godiva Chocolatier, The Wall Street Journal, Barnes & Noble Inc., and CompUSA. WaveTop is an Internet-based service that transmits digital information to computers equipped with TV tuners. The company also announced an agreement with Wave Systems Corp. to use Wave's Embassy E-Commerce content metering and payment system. Wave Systems (WAVX) was up 19/32 to 4-9/16.
