Chris
Posting from 3Com thread - may shed more light from another angle re big volume today. Spillover effect in addition to existing speculation on NN?
==========================
Apparently 3Com said good things at an analyst conference in Boston:

Wrong! Dispatches from the Front: What's Behind This Nasdaq Run?
By James J. Cramer
12/1/98 12:34 PM ET

How bout them Nasdaqs! Really caught the media right in the bearish kisser. They are
still reading from bearish cue cards even as the NDX ignites!

What gives?

How about the fundamentals? The first handful of confabs are over at the First Boston
tech powwow at the House That Keating Built with Your Tax Dollars, and it looks like
things are A-OK. (In other words, my partner, Jeff Berkowitz, has called in from the
Phoenecian, where First Boston is holding its technology conference, and 3Com
(COMS:Nasdaq), Nokia (NOK.A:NYSE ADR) and Cisco (CSCO:Nasdaq) all said
good things.) Meanwhile, that big bad program that knocked down everything --
especially tech -- is over. And the speculators got eaten alive in the 24-hour bad Net
virus. In other words, the end-of-November selloff may have already run its course.

Or, maybe the earnings/flight-to-quality/valuation rap that the papers/old-line media/TV
said was killing us yesterday has miraculously subsided.
