I was unaware of Siebel's plans to 'host' applications. I believe that this concept has the potential to revolutionize the way in which application software is delivered to corporate customers. Instead of selling the software, implementation services, relying on IT organizations to procure servers, install software, etc, etc. -- a company could 'rent' an entire solution from a software provider. Benefits to customers -- eliminate much of the upfront costs of acquiring and implementing a solution. Instead, pay a higher maintenance fee that covers software plus infrastructure.

If Siebel -- or any company -- is successful in making this concept a reality, I think it could reap huge financial rewards.

Any thoughts? Are any other companies planning to do this?
