CNBC reported this afternoon (around 5:00 pm ET ) that four brokerage
firms have increased margin requirements on select securities, some of
which are internet stocks. DLJ, SSB, Q&R and Waterhouse were the four brokerage firms mentioned. IAW CNBC SSB raised margins on EBAY, AMZN and one other internet stock (sorry I missed the name). ps I think AMZN, EBAY and YHOO all traded at a low today of 182 and were
all trading close to 200 in mid afternoon. The three stocks
seemed to be trading point for point thru much of the day. Every time
I think about how over valued AMZN is (IMHO) I realize that EBAY is even more insanely priced than AMZN (IMO).
