I sell on most gaps, period. I play many of the disaster dejour's by looking for good companies with a bad moment or a specific condition, like a bad report on a disasterous day. Often, the rebound is significant and quite profitable, even if they are selling swiss cheese perfume!

Margin calls are also a play that takes some practice. Many brokers will pump these net stocks due to that margin call rule to protect their own ass. They may get stuck with the bill!!!

Freeus, with all respect, those are awful rules. That's how you got into trouble -- dumping Dell when it had a couple of those nightmare days that all companies go through. If you keep your eyes firmly on the company and its prospects the chances of getting hurt aren't so bad so long as the stock price is consonant with earnings expectations. When you see stocks that have no earnings, few if any assets, no barriers to entry and huge valuations relative to possible earnings its time to run for the hills.

I find these second tier internet stocks so intriguing: if there are decent earnings to be made in some of these companies I sure don't see them!

To each his own, but I prefer a company that has earnings as its underpinning rather than the greater fool theory, and if the earnings are there then why be tricked into selling because just the price of the stock drops?

Helloooooo Freeus!

I heard some good news about WDC (for what it's worth- inventories are at a low and demand is up). The only problem is that it came from MY BROTHER IN LAW!!!!!

I can now appreciate that Chinese proverb (was it Chinese?) "Be careful what you wish for,for you might get it (Dec-70's).

Best of luck,

David
