TTC Announces Availability Of TPI
350DSL Analyzer, the First to
Support CAP, DMT Codes FYI

December 1, 1998 -- TTC Tuesday announced the
commercial availability of the TPI 350DSL analyzer.

This handheld ADSL test set is the first of its kind to
support both CAP and DMT line codes. The new
instrument will be exhibited at ComNet, TTC booth
2830, Jan. 26-28 in Washington, D.C.

The TPI 350 is TTC's entry-level tester for ADSL and
complements TTC's recently announced ADSL test
sets, the T-BERD 1000 and TTC 1000 ADSL
analyzers which support DMT line coding. The TPI
350, developed by the TPI division of TTC, is a
lightweight, battery powered unit designed for the
field technician. It emulates the ATU-R (ADSL
modem) and displays the critical line parameters.

Using the TPI 350DSL, the field technician can
quickly verify service and conduct a smooth
installation. It includes menu-driven set-up and test
on LCD.

"TTC believes that the success of ADSL will be
driven in large part by industry and technology
leaders bringing down installation and deployment
costs through the availability of efficient turn-up
service tools and systems,'' said Bob Vogel,
president of TTC's TPI division. "I'm delighted to
announce the commercial availability of such a
solution.

"The TPI 350DSL will enable service providers to
quickly, accurately and efficiently turn up ADSL
service.''

Other features of the TPI 350 include a lid option for
detection of load coils out to 27,000 feet. A maximum
of five load coils will be indicated supporting cable
lengths up to 36,000 feet. In addition, an open, a
short, or excessive noise on the line will be indicated
by LED readings. The instrument will display
downstream and upstream connect speed and noise
margin on a LCD display and LED sync.

Upgrade enhancements to the TPI 350 consist of the
following two-wire loop diagnostic features: DC
current, loop resistance and capacitance, power
influence, display of loop length based on
resistance/capacitance measurements and entry of
cable gauge data, and load coil detector.

The TPI 350 will be available for commercial
shipment in January 1999. It is priced under $3,000.
