Wily,
I have been trying to get back to you on the system monitor but I bought a zip drive tonight and had trouble installing it , just about ready to box it back up and BINGO , now it works. these pc's are going to put me in the grave early.
On the System monitor; the memory does spike up when I open a large bitmap (900kb)sometimes.But that IE browser is still slow . I just gave up for tonight and am using Netscape with 6 to 7 second response
on viewing messages at SI.....IE browser was about 30 to 50 seconds.I still want to find out WHY. For now I was wondering about the system monitor. Are my assumptions right.
1.Kernel:Processor usage % =(DAAA, the % the processor is working)
2.Microsoft Network Client: Bytes read/second = This one reads very very low, is this the browser usage??????
3.Memory Manager:Allocated memory = I guess this number is a set #, mine is around 122M. What do you think?
4.Microsoft Network Client:Open files =Barely shows anything...is this the amount of programs open?
5.Memory Manager:Disk cache size. It is around 13 M, and moves all the time . Is this the amount of trash in my cache?
6.Memory Manager:Free memory = Obvious , but it bounces around..as I write it is at 550k and spikes to 1m and back to barely showing.
These are my 6 items in system manager . I don't see how they would affect IE and not Netscape.......any thoughts on my monitor readings or this turtle of a browser. Thanks again.
