GLC Ltd. Shares Almost Triple on Opening of Online Casino

Gibraltar, Dec. 1 (Bloomberg) -- GLC Ltd. shares almost tripled after its GalaxiWorld Ltd. unit began operating an Internet gambling site.

GLC rose 16 9/16 to 25 in trading of 1.56 million shares, almost 100 times the three-month daily average.

GLC's shares have soared from a 52-week low of 1/2 on July 21. The shares plunged in June when the company, based in the U.K. territory of Gibraltar, said its Internet site would be further delayed. It was initially expected to open April 30.

GalaxiWorld operates the online casino from St. Kitts, a Caribbean island nation. Gamblers put up their wagers in cash, credit cards or wire transfers. The company plans to offer 52 casino games, including black jack and craps.

GLC lost $1.61 million, or 13 cents a share, on revenue of $223,790 in its third quarter ended Oct. 31. The company changed its name from Gaming Lottery Corp. on Sept. 30.
