File this under rumour. After specifically denying that the Starke plant in Sarnia 60 minutes drive from Detroit would be making batteries for EV's one of my cohorts was told that yes indeed they were slated for EV's too. Go figure.!

I bought a Radio Shack charger when I purchased a few of their NiMH batteries. I found that the batteries got very hot to the touch when they were charged with the plastic cover closed. They also got fairly hot when the cover was lifted away during charging.

The December Consumer Reports magazine reported tests of "high drain" alkaline batteries verus Panasonic Rechargable NiCads and Energizer Lithium batteries. For high drain conditions, the Panasonic NiCads performed as well as or better than the high drain alkalines, and the Litium cells lasted 300 % longer than the HD alkalines. CR plans to test NiMH batteries soon.
