As much as I like to malign MM's, I'm not convinced they are able to easily manipulate a stock like OMKT with so much volume trading lately. Furthermore, the MM's compete with each other for the "inside bid/ask", so unless there is some kind of collusion going on, I'm not convinced they can be that effective at bringing a big one like this down.

Sure, they can attempt to create the appearance of a selling spree by dropping the bid at the open (e.g. selling their inventory of stock to the buy limit orders on the way down). But they run the risk of an equally powerful up rally if buyers rush in and they've already sold most of their inventory at the open.

It is a nice idea that they want to bring it up before Christmas.

Any thoughts?

P.S. Definitely should be a good run before December 9th when the Internet index starts trading. My take would be that the new index has yet to reach the conciousness of the average investor. When it does, they'll clambor to get in on all the index stocks before the index opens.
