Check out his evaluation that Katmai will be better than 3DNOW!. Also Katmai instructions will be faster than the FPU so this will negate the K7s powerful FPU. Did someone forget to tell him that the 3DNOW instructions are also faster than an FPU? Of course this didn't make a difference until Intel came up with the Katmai. So now Intel will be the one that relies on the new instructions to compeat against AMDs robust FPU and not the other way around...
Is Katmai double precision or not? I've heard yes and I've heard no.
