The UBID IPO and others are interesting in their ramifications for other internet daytrading favorites like EGGS (at the moment, though interest is already waning). One the one hand, it keeps the sector hot and sexy which is bullish; on the other hand, it's bearish because it sucks trading away from declining red hot stocks like the online retailers and moves it into the hottest thing at that moment. It's mostly the same pot of money running from one hot issue to another, and when it moves away from a given stock, that stock gets hurt. This is what happened to EXBX and TGLO after their IPOs which was the cause of their temporary meteoric rise (although they're still way above their filing prices). And when they IPO-ed, I was in the portals and I thought that the IPOs would be good for them; nope, they just sat there or went down a tad.

So I'm not sure yet what effect the UBID IPO will have this week, or that of TMCS next week (I believe). I'll have to wait on that one.
