I'm not sure I understand your point. Any company that makes &
sells computers is a hardware company. The reason SUNW is NOT
DELL or CPQ, is because they write & publish software that helps
sell the hardware. They don't break out revenue streams by
hardware & software, but it seems clear that Solaris 7 is the
reason their E10000's sell so well, and the reason why Merced
won't.

Looking at trailing earnings isn't going to show much from Java.
You need to project into the future. Yes, fat servers will
be a big part of the picture. So what??? Customers will buy
them because of Java applications, so Java will help enhance
the sale of servers. SUNW isn't some screwdriver company like
all these pc resellers, they are really a solutions company, not
unlike IBM.

The revenue from TCI won't be a notable % of gross, but it does
show demand for embedded Java, and will be one of the early big
victories SUNW can use to leverage better deals for the future.

Don't be just a naysayer, Bill. We'll both have to see what
happens, but I'm betting that Java is going to be the product
that puts SUNW over the top.

cheers,
