MURRAY HILL, N.J. -- elemedia, a wholly-owned venture of Lucent Technologies that provides high-quality solutions for the Internet telephony and multimedia market, today announced that three leading-edge companies have signed contracts to use its industry-leading H.323 protocol stack.
The three companies are:

Com21 and MediaGate are new customers for elemedia's version of the H.323 protocol stack. Comdial, which first purchased elemedia's gateway software in 1997, has renewed its licensing arrangement.
"elemedia brings a degree of reliability and scalability not available in other products and gives Com21 a significant time to market advantage in cable-based VoIP markets," said Pete Fenner, president and CEO of Com21.
"The elemedia multi-thread H.323 stack is the best solution for server manufacturers who need to provide the maximum number of H.323 channels in a single server," said Doron Herzlich, chairman of MediaGate.
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to enhance our products with solid H.323 gatekeeper technology from elemedia," said Row Zadeh, president of Array Telecom Corp., Toronto, a wholly owned subsidiary of Comdial that provides carrier-class and enterprise Internet Protocol (IP) telephony gateway products.
"The high quality of elemedia's technology, combined with excellent support, has been essential in our decision," said Zadeh. "We are confident that this technology will support the necessary gateway interoperability, and will continue the leadership position of our VOIPgate product in the carrier and enterprise IP telephony markets."
"Our version of the H.323 protocol stack greatly expands the interoperability, reliability and functionality of a wide range of voice, data and visual communications over the Internet, intranets and local area networks," said Joe Mele, president of elemedia.
"Through these contracts, we're showing our commitment to work with companies everywhere to help create a variety of value-adding applications that cut communications costs, redefine the way computers and telephone capabilities converge, and introduce new vehicles for conducting business," Mele said.
