3DFX vs. Canopus

Looks like 3dfx has a problem with one of its customers. I read somewhere that Canopus was not going to make a Voodoo3 card. It looks like there is some bad blood there for some reason.

From voodooextreme.com

No more Pure3D IIs? - 5:50pm MST - Billy "Wicked" Wilson
I'll start out this post with a quote from KickAss Gear's news page:

Dr. John has learned from various sources that Canopus is getting out of the Voodoo2 card business. Apparently, they have had ongoing disagreements with 3Dfx interactive, the company that supplies them with Voodoo2 chips. And while this will be bad news for the many fans of Canopus' high-end Voodoo2 product, the Pure 3D2, it may be good news for game computer makers, who have been plagued with shortages from Canopus since they opened for business in the US in 1996. We'll be sorry to see these boards disappear, but we sure won't miss the constant delays in receiving Canopus shipments.

Since I hate pulling a Binky and just posting rumors, I did a little checking around. While nobody would tell me directly, this does in-fact appear to be the case. I'm still waiting for the "official" word from Canopus...but here's a little something too: if you check out Canopus' Factory Store or like Shopper.com, no more Pure3D IIs (or in the case of Shopper.com, none in stock).
