Re: H3D Headset

John, I normally don't use it except to give demos to other folks. It IS neat to use, and I don't get headaches from it. (Unlike the Ritalin. ;) ) But it does require me to keep my head in pretty much the same place all the time for both lenses to cover my monitor (19"). And I'm pretty fidgety (Ritalin again (for narcolepsy not ADD)). I think if I spent some more time adjusting the settings, it'd be better and I'd use it more.

An A3D enhanced game+sound card and H3D provides a pretty good immersive experience. I think it's good for single player, but multi-player I prefer the increased res and speed I get playing without it.

I need to go out to the wicked3d site and see if they have a Half-Life driver. I bet it will kick ass!

The good thing about H3D and Metabyte was that they offered a money-back guarantee. This is needed, since until you see it in action, you really don't know what you're getting.

If you're like me, who doesn't mind throwing a lot of money into his computer, and enjoy showing your computer off to your friends, I highly recommend getting one as a novelty item. But only if you've already upgraded to SLI and done any other power upgrades. I don't think it's a bad thing, I think it's just a wee bit away from being good enough to justify purchasing. I would like to see larger lenses to make sure I cover my monitor with both lenses at all times. I would also like a set that includes de/attachable headphones as well. I've seen reviews which say the glasses fit over regular glasses; I'm not sure they would since my friends take off their glasses to put these in. If they can sell it for under $100, say $80-$90, then it would be much more worth it. I got mine for $99 in a special promotion.

Anyone else have them and want to give your opinion?

Thanks,
Timbur
