OT,

Speaking of media slant...Imagine only one difference in the Clinton saga of Whitewater, Travelgate, Filegate, Monica etc. The difference I want you to imagine is that the President in question is a Republican instead of a Democrat. Imagine what the media and liberal Democrats would be saying and doing in that case. The howls for a lynching would be deafening.

Hi Michael,..Re:. Media BS

I don't doubt for a second that reporters are guided by their editors to embellish the negative. Just before noon on CNBS, they managed to twist an upcoming story by announcing it with broader implications.

They were talking about the upcoming interview with the CEO of Nucor Steel and stated that they would discuss how Nucor is coping with the current deflationary environment. Now, most everybody knows the steel industry is under pressure because of foreign dumping of cheap steel in the US, a specific and verifiable situation. But didn't the auto manufacturers get in price increases this year? Has the price of refrigerators gone down? NO. But would telling the story objectively get more eyeballs? No. Just tabloid business journalism at it's worst.

Goes on daily. Everything is a crisis and the next day when it's discovered it really wasn't a crisis, no further mention is made. There are so many examples of this sensational type reporting that it's becoming alarming.

Another instance, both CNBS and CNNfn insist on linking a 9000 person layoff with the Exxon/Mobil merger; however, if anyone wants to think about it a bit, many people would have been laid off anyway given the current state of the oil industry. Mr. Noto pointed that out last night on CNNfn but I don't think Lou was smart enough to get it.

Regards,

Lee
