To be a contrarian for a moment . . . If and when IDX wants to sell Touchsafes into the consumer market, they are going to have to come way down in price. If the basic computer costs, say, $700, no one is going to pay $400 for a peripheral. Will they even pay $100? We may not see mass market pricing on home-use fingerscanners until they get down to $50 or less. The good news, I guess, is that this application has to be fairly far off -- time enough for IDX to get its costs down.
