That's a good question - and I'll tell you why.

Several months back, Intel did a quick and dirty "process shrink" on one of their CPUs to the 0.18 micron process. Being a "shrink", it only takes advantage of the smaller feature sizes of the 0.18 micron process - but DOES NOT utilize the 6'th level of metallization that is available on that process.

I don't know yet what CPU was used for that project.

My guess is that Intel will most likely make a "stealth" introduction of that device early next year - utilizing it's smaller die size and lower power (due to lower Vcc), as marketing and performance advantages.

So, I hope you can wait until after Christmas, Kevin !
