Gerald, Aren't huge portions of those donations actually Microsoft software which can be knocked off and donated for very, very little cash out of pocket cost? It's been a way to build mindshare for Microsoft.
This $100,000,000 is a totally different story, because there is almost no direct or indirect benefit to Microsoft. This one is truly philanthropic. I salute Mr. Gates for finally putting some cold hard cash into something out of the ordinary for him. I look forward to see many contributions from him over the ensuing years. Who knows he could be swimming with the salmon in the back yard with his daughter one day...
