No comments on Dow or hemline theory, though I do have a preference. On another subject this Forbes piece argues the Japanese will/are implementing a currency printing effort to stimulate consumer demand. It basically says that intentionally causing inflation is the only way to force buying, as printing excess money > thus inflating prices, will get people out shopping when they realize prices are only headed up.

This is an interesting yet odd notion. We've all seen gas prices drop in recent years and its had the opposite effect of making us drive more. The same with memory chips, the more they dropped the more we bought and had configured into new machines.

It seems to me a more cogent reason behind the printing press binge is to have plenty of yen to pay off Indonesian and Asian business/investment disasters.

DJT is getting close to breaking out -- above 200 dma. If it does, it won't change my mind about the fact that this market is way overvalued. We are just starting to hear from cos like Deere and Boeing -- is anybody listening or are they too busy "making money?"
