It almost sounds like a pimping service for programmers. Follow me on this one...

The Pimp
The pimp defines projects that need doing. He recruits both programmers and beta testers. He provides advertising for the programs both during and after the beta stage. He provides the money collection services and distribution to the programmers as long as they can work out among themselves how the money is distributed within a given project/program. He also may provide a web-based repository for the source, a bug-tracking system, and a basic cyber-gathering place for those involved. He also gets a cut of the revenues.

The Programmer
Gets to work on a program that interests him without having to deal with the administriva of bug-tracking and distribution/collection. If there is more than one person involved on a project, they have to agree on some method of dividing up the programming portion of the profits. The Programmer gets a base of beta testers and a resonable hope for a profit from his efforts.

The Beta Tester
Gets to use the software gratis during (and after?) the beta test period.

The Public
Gets reasonably priced software that has been thoroughly tested and is of high quality.

Is this your basic motivation plan? Actually is sounds more like "Consignment Software" than pimping.
