Whether its BHP, Anglo or Billiton financing may be tough...

From NCN Site:

"December 3, 1998 21:36 GMT: Darren Schuettler reported for Reuters that Chase Manhattan Bank, the world's leader in corporate and project mine financing, has firmly said "No" to loans for mining projects in the DR Congo. Peter Dupak, a vice president with Chase Securities' global mining and metals group, was quoted saying, "We've been asked to take a look at projects in Congo and the answer is no." Dupak said it will be 2-3 years before the bank even wants to look at the problem again. In 1997, Chase Manhattan loaned out $1.36 billion to global mining projects, followed by Citibank at $548 million. Chase lent a total of $8 billion to corporations around the world in 1997."
