Rambus makes an interface that accelerates the exchange of signals between a computer's memory and logic chips, alleviating a bottleneck that hampered the development of ever-faster computers. The company targets its products to multimedia, networking equipment, and digital video/television receiver markets. (Nintendo uses Rambus technology in its state-of-the-art Nintendo64 video game system.) Rambus licenses its chip interfaces to semiconductor makers including NEC, Samsung Electronics, and Intel, and earns a royalty when the manufacturers in turn sell Rambus-based integrated circuits. The top 13 dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) makers have all licensed Rambus' interface.

uncle,

The downside is market risk. The pain felt around Labor Day(RMBS@45) and Oct 8th(RMBS @48) was acute. That is the risk, and with our beloved Bus, it's usually intensified. Time will tell, but until then...that was one incredible late day rally.

John/long 800 but too scared to add at 86, and too chicken to sell out!

Uncle: Another limitation is power consumption. To get RDRAM used in every Palm Pilot (or other "killer app" device) is the sure fire way to get the stock to $1000, and power consumption/heat production (hand in hand) is what could limit its use in this area.
