This isn't really a partnership ... other than ... AMD puts in money and
then gets a .18um process. Of course the process they are buying is
currently only on "foils" ... but ... very "pretty foils". What happens
when Motorolo misses their first milestone, can AMD do anything about it ??
Please remember back to other Motorolo problems like the 68040 process/CPU.
Many were "hung out to dry" on that one. What happens if Motorolo decides
to get out of process development themselves ... OR ... Is Motorolo
committed to developing a CPU IC process (not ASIC process) that can
compete with Intel ?? As you can see Dr. Saeed, there are many questions
and very few answers.
