Ya gotta love it . The more fabs that shut down-the higher the shares go. I wonder if orders really remain strong, will they build new fabs or reopen the old ones?

Ramsey,

Please explain how a decrease in orders for Boeing jets translates into fabs no longer replacing obsolete equipment. I suppose the move to .18 will not happen, nor the transition to 300mm, or the move to copper? Also, please see an earlier post of mine which shows INTC cannot meet demand for Pentium II's.

The boeing news is old news It just took them this long to realize. AMAT saw and experienced this months ago.

The oil news is bad for oil producing countries but great for oil consuming countries which are many more.

Ramsey, Great note and right on. AMAT will have "better than expected" eps this quarter, which may actually not be a loss this time as it was last quarter. The bulls will love it. However, they will fail to notice that the gain in orders all come from an AMAT partnership. Ah, the games co-opted cos play to pretent they are doing better than they are. But, hey, it works when the investors are mostly technicians who, like Sgt. Schultz on "Hogan's Heroes< know nussink about nussink. <G>
