Fred, OT (PT, you can chime-in here, too...). Oil service sector triple-bottom?

I'm thinking it, but I'm suspicious...

We're still paying an outrageous premium for gasoline out here - $1.20 is the cheapest unleaded regular I've seen. California taxes + "San Diego premium" = local supply monopoly... (And I still have to pay $1.33 for premium in North County where it's cheaper.)

BTW, despite Exxon's claim that they are maintaining separate brands, I see that local Mobil stations already have some kind of cloth "bag" over their signs that say "Exxon". Looks like they were ready for this, since they had to have had the "quickie sign-change kits" made-up in advance.

Somebody mentioned the possibility of profiting from the merger by buying-up closed stations - e.g. they have key corner locations that have been off the market for years.

Watching HAL, RIG, etc. to see how they hold.
