Biotechs rise during conference

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Shares of biotechnology companies were
on the rise, as the second day of the BancBoston Robertson Stephens
15th Annual Medical Conference drew to a close.

Movers in the Amex Biotech Index include Cor
Therapeutics (CORR), which rose 1 9/16 to close
at 13 1/2; Genzyme Corp.(GENZ), which rose 4
1/8 to close at 45 5/8 and Gilead Sciences (GILD),
which climbed 1 3/4, closing at 33 5/8.

By the time the three-day conference closes,
investors will have seen some 200 presentations by
companies specializing in pharmaceuticals, home
healthcare, life sciences and other
healthcare-related businesses. The conference
ends Thursday afternoon.

Companies scheduled to give presentations in New
York on Thursday include Healthsouth
Corp.(HRC), Alza Corp.(AZA), IMS Health
Inc.(RX), Immunex (IMNX), Genzyme (GENZ)
and Centocor (CNTO).
