PS: Fortunately the only thing I have in it is the company match in the 401K.

You're not buying the 15% discount on the lower of the beginning or end of the quarter stuff? I sold all the 401k HON I could (the stuff I'd bought but not the match) and started stuffing the full 10% of salary into the discounted stock. Too good of a deal to pass up.

Don't forget all the non-avionics stuff that Honeywell does too. There's the space stuff, the home stuff and the industrial controls stuff. I also didn't see the 737 mentioned in the production reduction story nor anything about the MD95/B717. Not to mention that Airbus doesn't seem to be having any problems. Cutbacks in the 747-400 and the 777 can't help though, especially with the high-content AIMS cabinet.

All in all I don't think this will cause a serious pullback. At least there haven't been any downgrades yet. :-)

Greg, Honeywell, I remember them as one of the seven dwarfs, vis a vis IBM, in the computer biz(going back to the 70's.). They had a division in Framingham, Mass. (minicomputers) mainframes in Phoenix, and some presence elsewhere, I think. Some nostalgia in the computer biz (where's Mary):

70's

IBM
Honeywell
CDC
Univac
Burroughs
NCR
DEC
GE
RCA

Today

IBM
Sun
HP
Fujitsu
CPQ (DEC, Tandem included)
Dell
SGI
NEC
Hitachi
Who'd I forget?

You gotta be nimble and quick, like Jack, or you're toast.

Best of luck with your 401K AND INTC,

Tony

Thread: Opinion wanted on INTC through year end.
I need to sell a few INTC shares before the end of the year, looking for opinions on what may the best time to do so. Although I've held INTC for a long time, I haven't watched the day to day and seasonal movements. Should I take it at it's highs right now or wait until closer to the end of the year? What is it's usual holiday movement?

Any and all opinions/thoughts appreciated.

Thanks
Dan

It is just wonderful to see Intel power to a new all time high
today --- 117+ as of early afternoon.

As for talk of a split. The last split was announced in early 1997 with a split date in July of 1997. This announcement only occurred after Intel had held firmly above 130 for a time (it was as high as the 140's---pre split of course). We'll have to see.
If things keep going the way they are going expect a split announcement either in January or April along with earnings reports.

Many anal-ists think this stock is overvalued. Is it?
The other technology leaders, MSFT, CSCO, DELL, LU have 1998 PE
multiples between 70 and 90. INTC---35.

IMHO INTC - being a leader in their field deserves a PE near the others. MY god that means a price well over 200!!!

By it and put it away. You'll thank me later.
