Got that sent to me on the 3Com page also. Haven't had time to track it down. There is some indications, however I don't have enough to say for sure. That is a business xDSL known as SDSL, it has the same speed in both directions. I think costs among other things move it away from consumer use and into the business relm.

Here is a clip from the Aware site showing it is something they offer.

Overview

Aware, Inc. designs, develops and markets telecommunications software, chipsets and modems that incorporate Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL), Very High Speed Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL), Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL), and Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) technologies.

And this from their partner list.

US Robotics/3Com
Aware has licensed its full-rate ADSL technology to 3Com for use in its ADSL product offerings. 3Com's U.S. Robotics division is the largest seller of modems in the world.

Also Aware does business with Pulsecom, Diamond Lane and others who do SDSL. I don't know if Aware has anything to do with the Copper Mountain-3Com SDSL...I only am pointing out that they have the ability to be involved now or in the future with SDSL deployments.

(1) When you pick up a phone and dial a number, you may think that
all phone systems in the USA are the same.
(2) THEY ARE NOT !
(3) As an engineer for the largest utility in the USA for 30 years,
I can assure you that your electric system in the USA varies from
city to city.
(4) This is the RISK of G.lite vs Copper Mountain system, etc.
(5) Even the local internet cable system which I tried from Nov 4
to Nov 9, 1998 was different just a dew miles away.
(6) #SDL may work fine in some areas and fall flat on it's face in
other areas.
(7) And G.LITE may turn out to be the big winner.
(8) But at this time I DO NOT KNOW>
